Meet Dezert Eagle Hip Hop MC from Maryland...

                                                                    DEZERT EAGLE

E.H.M.P.: How did you get down with Elegant Hoodness ?
Dezert: I got down with  Elegant Hoodness threw a comrades and mentor of mine know as Armah Ogunde back in early summer of 2013 late May.

E.H.M.P.:  What does your name A Dezert Named Eagle mean?

Dezert: Interesting question, well the name A Dezert Named Eagle has a real deep and profound meaning that would surely go over the heads of many yet appreciated in the same aspect for its broad uniqueness. Dezert Eagle was giving to me by my elder cousin at the early age of 13 signifying young gun with a hard kick due to the fact i was a child prodigy in the art of lyricism. I latter abandon the name due to misunderstanding and stereotypes until my Senior year of high school where i latter adopted the name once more giving it a broader, spiritual and personal meaning now representing the the Egyptian Deity Horus whom is the sun of the light, if you do your extensive research you will find that a Desert Eagle is simply a Hawk which is the animal principal of the deity Horus. The Eagle also represents the Great Spirit, the connection to the Divine.  It is the ability to live in the realm of spirit, and yet remain connected and balanced within the realm of Earth.  Eagle soars, and is quick to observe expansiveness within the overall pattern of life. From the heights of the clouds, Eagle is close to the heavens where the Great Spirit dwells. The fathers of Eagle are considered to be the most sacred of healing tools. They have been used for centuries by shamans to cleanse the auras of patients coming to them for healing.Within the belief systems of Native American tribes, Eagle represents a state of grace achieved through hard work, understanding, and a completion of the tests of initiation which results in the taking of one's personal power.  It is only through the trial of experienced the lows in life as well as the highs, and through the trial of trusting one's connection to the Great Spirit. It was winter 2012 when the name Dezert Eagel to a twist of change into A Dezert Named Eagle threw the influence of Hip Hop legendary group A Trip Called Quest which allowed the name to still hold its unique spiritual meaning and Hip Hop flavor.

E.H.M.P.:  Do you want to get signed to a major or would you rather stay indie?

Dezert: Honestly in this point of my life i wouldn't mind either or, i have been an independent underground hip hop artist for ten years yet i can honestly say i would not mind the assistance of a label at the current moment for i believe that any situation where presented in life is what we make it rather a artist is independent or signed, so i am open for what ever opportunity is presentable to me at the current moment.

E.H.M.P.: What is your objective in music?

Dezert: My objective in music is simply to touch reach excite and immortally uplift hip hop and humanity to a point it has yet to experience and witness in the history of hip hop with my unique style know as "Urban Confuciusim"!

E.H.M.P.: Do you consider yourself a Hip Hop artist or rapper and why?

Dezert: I consider my self a Hip Hop artist and find it to be quite of an insult to label myself as a Rap artist all off the fact that a majority of the artist out today are just simply rappers and not hip hop MCs completely ignorant to the trial and tribulations it takes to be able to hold such title as MC.

E.H.M.P.: Who are some of the acts you would like to work with in the near future?

Dezert: I would love to open up for artist such as Nas, The Roots, Common, Kendrick Lamar and further more, basically the legends that i grew influenced to as well as a few of the MCs in my generation whom are surly carrying on the hip hop tradition, Also classic artist of other genre such as Tears For Fear, Linkin Park, U2 and etc.

E.H.M.P.:  Where can we listen to and or download your music?

Dezert: you can check my music out at Links:

GEMZ GET'S THE LOW DOWN WITH NC'S OWN YOUNG DIRT

YOUNG DIRT
Making waves in the music industry is no easy task, but Reidsville, North Carolina representer, Young Dirt, when you grind hard and sleep less, anything is possible. Recently gaining a major label distribution deal, Young Dirt is ready to share with the world his sound and his story.
G3MZ: For the people that don’t know who you are tell them a little about where you’re from and how long you been doing this?
Young Dirt: I go by the name Young Dirt. I was born in Gastonia, North Carolina, raised everywhere between there, Buffalo, NY, Southside Chicago, Illinois, York, Clover and Rock Hill, South Carolina, and mostly Reidsville, North Carolina. I've been doing music for as long as I can remember but only professionally for about 2 years or so.
G3MZ: Being from the south do you feel like the south gets misrepresented?
Young Dirt: I don’t feel like the south gets misrepresented, but the streets choose a lot of the same kind of southern rappers to give the most press and promotion to, there’s no one kind of southern rapper, but a lot of them do have similar styles, so most times when an artist from the south sounds different they don’t think they're "southern".
G3MZ: What’s the best experience you've had so far?
Young Dirt: I think the best experience I've had in the music business so far has been touring with a radio single. I've done so many promotional shows trying to break singles when the crowd didn’t know the song that it was kind of overwhelming to have a crowd singing along to the song and actually knowing and reciting my rhymes that I wrote. That's a powerful feeling, also makes you realize the responsibility you have as an entertainer.
G3MZ: Who influenced your style coming up?
Young Dirt: When I was coming up I listened to east coast music, Rakim, Big L, Jay-Z, a little Nas, Chino XL, Crooked I and artists like that. I did more freestyles than songs. It took me a LONG time to get out of just writing lyrics and actually making songs, I got to give my big homey Carlos Diaz credit for schooling me to the importance of catchy hooks in the music business.
G3MZ: Let us know about your current project and where can people get it?
Young Dirt: I have 2 recent mixtapes with exclusively Young Dirt music available on datpiff.com, "Born Alone Die Alone" and "2 Real 4 Radio - Vol 1". Both are released through You World Global Media in Atlanta. Also I just hosted DJ 7 Thirty's "Block Huggaz" Vol 65 and released 5 tracks on it mixed in with music from some industry heavyweights. The latest project I am working on is my third studio mixtape to be released this summer which is as of yet untitled, but will be hosted and sponsored by Fleet DJs and Coast 2 Coast Mixtapes.

G3MZ: How do you feel about mainstream right now?
Young Dirt: Honestly I don’t feel about mainstream. Mainstream is the product of what's popular in the boardroom and the streets. If the streets are supporting something or the people with the check are paying for the promotion, I can't really say anything other than congratulations. Other than that, it doesn’t make or break me. I got my blinders on running my own race.

G3MZ: How can people contact you for bookings or features?

Young Dirt: For bookings or features you can contact Demetrius Williams at Demetrius.Djdredz.Williams@gmail.com or Ms. L. B. Whitener at MSLBMGMT@gmail.com, or you can contact my business facebook at www.facebook.com/youngdirtofficial or direct message on twitter @YoungDirt.

G3MZ: Any shout outs?
Young Dirt: Definitely have to thank God for breath in my body, shout out my management team MsLB, Demetrius and DRS Productions, You World Global Media, my family G.H.S.L. Fam, Sesame Eagle Gang, the city of Reidsville, NC, my whole Burris, Guinn, Ross fam from SC to NC to Chicago, and anybody that ever clicked a Young Dirt link, liked or retweeted a Young Dirt status, played a Young Dirt CD or supported a Young Dirt show! Hell even the ones in the street talking bad on my name, I wouldn’t be nothing without each and every one of ya’ll!

KING SAGE SITS DOWN WITH E.H.M.P.

KING SAGE

E.H.M.P.: In your bio it says you’re from Queens arguably the birth place of hip hop. Elaborate some on the subject.

KING SAGE: It's where kings were born ;) I mean you got LL, RUN DMC, NAS, 50, the list goes on.. There’s something about the energy and vibe of Queens that lets a special type of creative energy develop. I was born and raised in it. My ethnic background being Pakistani made me feel out of place but I loved rap.. And all my friends were from the hood so I picked up on there energy too.. And that’s why I bring that authentic NY sound today.

E.H.M.P.: How was your 1st experience at the Elegant Hoodness Musical Program and how do you think it benefits artists and well you return and or recommend the movement to other artist?

KING SAGE: I had a great time... A.D The General kept it real and fun, its great for artists on the come up to show their skill. They also have an opportunity to network with other artists and promoters/record execs. I’ll be back for a few more rounds for sure..

E.H.M.P.: Who are some of your inspirations?

KING SAGE: Pac, Phill Collins, Sade, Bill Whithers... yeah I’m diverse... I look for passion in music.. That’s real to me; everything else is bells and whistles.

E.H.M.P.: Do you believe Hip Hop has lost its way and why?

KING SAGE: Hip-Hop as a culture hasn't lost anything since its basically youth/urban/street culture. But Hip-hop as an art form got dumbed down horribly. And it's the record exec's that did it. They want dumber artists to be on top so that if anything happens to them they can get easily replaced.. It’s all about money to them...so the music suffers.

E.H.M.P.: Where can we listen and or download your music?

KING SAGE: check www.kingsagemusic.com and my videos at youtube.com/kingsagemusic

E.H.M.P.: Any thank you and or shout outs?

KING SAGE: Thanks To the Most High, to Jane My Manager, to A.D The General, to everyone who keeps supporting me and all my fans... this is just the beginning...

E.H.M.P.: You have a great stage presence and strong lyrical context in your music. How important is it to connect with an audience? How important is it for you for people to relate to your lyrics?

DAY LIGHT STAY RITE, SUN GOTTA BUN

DAY LIGHT STAY RITE, SUN GOTTA BUN

E.H.M.P.: Explain the meaning of your name?

DAY LIGHT: Well my full stage name is "Daylite Stayrite", I feel I shine in whatever I do, my music can go in any direction as the sun shines in all directions 360 degrees, in addition to the music being hot as well as enlightening, "Daylite". I had a line in one of my earlier songs where I said "Daylite stay right, sun gotta burn" the artists I was affiliated with at the time just started calling me "Daylite Stayrite".

E.H.M.P.: You are currently on the Elegant Hoodness Musical Program 6th annual tour, how has the experience been?

DAY LIGHT: It’s been a great experience, both entertaining and educational. performing with the same artist at different spots back to back was official, especially being that artist I'm affiliated with were also involved in the tour so the family just got bigger.

E.H.M.P.: How long have you been rapping and what inspires you?

DAY LIGHT: I wrote my 1st rhyme in '93, didn't really start taking it serious until '99. As far as my inspiration, it’s the culture. I live Hip Hop and rap being one of the elements of that culture is the best form of expression in my opinion. I love rapping; I started rapping for fun with my friends and its still fun to this day.

E.H.M.P.: Who are some of your favorite MCs?

DAY LIGHT: I respect a lot of artist so I'll name 10... Nas, Tupac(RIP), BIG(RIP), Slick Rick, Rakim, Kool G Rap, WuTang Clan, Eminem, 3Stacks, Daylite Stayrite.

E.H.M.P.: Do you like the direction Hip Hop has taken?

DAY LIGHT: From a business stand point, yes because it’s an independent market and I'm the business. From a creative stand point I don't feel enough artists are challenging themselves creatively. A lot of music is cool for now but I doubt it will be of any relevance in the near future due to the lack of originality.

E.H.M.P.:  Where can we hear and or download your music?

DAY LIGHT: People can listen and download my music from the following site...
www.reverbnation.com/daylitemusic
www.myspace.com/daylitemusic
www.tweetmysong.com/daylitemusic
www.soundcloud.com/daylitestayrite
www.youtube.com/daylitemusictv

E.H.M.P.: Any last words?

DAY LIGHT:
Well I just recently became affiliated with T.H.C. Productions as an artist and producer so a full length LP is sure to follow my debut EP "Daylite Stayrite" which I plan to release in late August 2012... Shine with me or get left in the dark!
